The MPAC-IP packet monitoring cards provide accelerated line-rate packet processing and monitoring access on high-speed electrical and optical transport networks, regardless of the underlying structure. The MPAC-IP range incorporates multi-gigabit Ethernet and SDH / SONET optical connectivity, including variants which can monitor up to 2x 40Gb/s.

The cards automatically extract packets from most standard layer 2 framing protocols such as Packet over SDH/SONET (PoS) or Generic Framing Procedure (GFP), and deliver them to the user via PCIe or multi-gigabit Ethernet. Advanced buffering ensures that 100% of packets can be captured, with zero loss, in real-time and at transmission rates of up to 40Gb/s from each input source.

The on-board packet processing logic pre-filters and pre-processes the packets, significantly offloading the host CPU and accelerating user applications inspecting packet data. Up to 32,000 concurrent, dynamically reconfigurable filers are available, under user control.


Integrated on-board ethernet and SDH/SONET interfaces

The MPAC-IP cards combine integrated Ethernet or optical SDH/SONET interfaces with packet processing capabilities into a single half-length PCIe card.

This reduces costs and increases system density, as all available PCIe slots can be used for packet processing.

The extraction of specific streams and traffic types such as RTP, GTP, SIP and email is supported without the need for additional equipment.
