High availability and SIP Load Balancer added to OKEFORD 5500 IVR for Satellite Network Operator migration

We are supporting a Satellite Network Operator customer with legacy equipment through their ongoing process of migration to second-generation satellite data terminals. The OKEFORD supports interworking between ISUP, ISDN and SIP protocols, enabling the integration of an IP (SIP) network to existing fixed line networks.

A recent update provides support for redundancy and load sharing across multiple OKEFORD systems by adding support for Virtual IP, clustering and a SIP proxy that performs load balancing.

With the new cluster / load balancing software OKEFORD pairs can be run in Active / Standby or Active / Active modes. Load balancing decisions are based on call parameter rules and resource usage of the systems configured with the load balancer. The active Worker node and SIP targets can also be set manually via the web-based interface.
