PoS & SDH EXTRACTOR: Packet capture with integrated optical ethernet

hinton high three quarter small2The PoS & SDH Extractor provides monitoring and analysis systems with 1Gb and 10Gb LAN access to optical Ethernet SDH/SONET core-networks. It offers the ability to extract selected traffic from a large number of network optical Ethernet connections. Typically, only a small volume of traffic in a network is of interest. By deploying the PoS & SDH Extractor, intelligence-gathering systems do not need to interface to every network connection.

Instead, the PoS & SDH Extractor processes all data at wire-line speeds and selectively passes data to the processing engine. Integrated optical Ethernet support (SDH/SONET) enables the PoS & SDH Extractor to connect directly to high-speed connections and interpret different formats such as ATM and PPP. The target data is then passed to the processing engine for further analysis. This significantly reduces the DPI processing load, complexity and the cost associated with packet filtering of large-scale inputs.
