Abis and IuB Probe: Scalable Probe for Cellular Networks
The Hinton Abis and IuB probe is a passive monitoring solution that provides access to the Abis/Iub interfaces between BTS/BSC and eNodeB/RNC elements in cellular networks. This means it can be deployed as a monitoring solution for location-enabled applications in GSM, UMTS and CDMA2000 cellular networks. Additionally, data on UMTS IuCS and IuPS interfaces can be captured.
The Hinton Abis and IuB probe captures location-related signaling information and related bearer content and presents it via an API interface to application developers, allowing them to provide subscribers and third parties with sophisticated, location based services. The data captured allows the triangulation of position to a high degree of accuracy, enabling a wide range of geolocation applications, such as location-targeted advertising, E911 compliance, alert-services and navigation aids.
Deploy Location Based Services Simply and Cost-EffectivelyThe use of passive, network independent technology allows the monitoring of information for up to 100% of subscribers on the network. This allows a single system to monitor networks built from a mix of network vendor equipment. The Abis and IuB probe enables applications to be developed using network information only. This avoids the need for special handset capabilities or additional radio equipment at base stations and allows location based services to be offered to all subscribers, irrespective of handset. The Abis and IuB probe offers high-density monitoring capabilities across multiple network sites. It has a small footprint, ensuring reduced OPEX requirements. It is capable of auto-discovery of signaling and visualisation of network topology. |

A simple way to deliver location-based VAS and OSS services
Captured data can be aggregated and forwarded by the Abis and IuB probe to a range of third party applications. Aggregation may be done locally at each monitoring site or centrally as network topology dictates.
The Abis and IuB probe is ideal for SIs and OEMs that need location data from mobile networks to introduce location-based VAS and OSS services.
