HINTON Decoder

The HINTON Decoder derives data from the signaling messages within a monitored telephony network.

Providing simple low-level access to network signaling, the HINTON Decoder is used by both system integrators (SIs) and OEMs to easily integrate network-monitoring capability into their own products. Being a passive, off-switch solution it is independent of the network architectures making it a highly flexible solution. The HINTON Decoder consists of telephony network interface cards and protocol software to access the core telecommunications network, together with a basic management application that allows customers to integrate the probe within their solution. The cards and software can be provided for SIs/OEMs to provide integrated monitoring of SS7 (over TDM LSL/HSL and SIGTRAN) for their products.

The HINTON Decoder provides two different types of monitoring API:

  • Raw messaging signaling unit (MSU) feed API: an un-decoded feed of all MSU data intercepted from the network (for example ISUP or MAP signaling).
  • Transaction Data Record (TDR) API: provides decode/filtering of selected messages and information elements of interest over TCP/IP (for example, location update messages or ISUP IAM). The TDR API can also correlate and combine TCAP messages from a transaction into a single record.

Telesoft Technologies has worked with telephony operators, SIs and OEMs since 1989 installing telephony equipment into core networks. Its signaling protocol software is used in many networks by over 250 operators in over 100 different countries ensuring both a wide variety of protocol support and robustness through use in a variety of networks.
